Yep. Both the hatch and sedan have four doors in the new iteration. That’s my sedan in the last photo. :) Where is ‘here’ for you?

No joke, I ended up behind an orange FiST with a Mighty Car Mods sticker on my way to work today. Even better, he rolled down his window in the rain and gave me a thumbs up!

Fiesta? I’ll give you Fiesta.

Have a Mk1. Choice of 957 or 1117cc, manual everything (choke, steering, locks, windows, gears- you did them all by yourself. The door mirror you adjusted by opening the window with a windy thing and pushing the glass around. Dearer models had a handle inside).

I think you got a radio.

That’s awesome! I haven’t seen a single FiST here where I live. :( Dealers don’t seem to carry them or FoSTs, either.

My lil sedan is an auto.

Ireland, but we’ve never had anything but hatchbacks in any part of Europe. I think you can get a four door Fiesta in India as well. Europe, though, does not into three box cars at this end of the market. The VW Jetta barely sells, for example.

“The door mirror you adjusted by opening the window with a windy thing...”

You mean a crank?

Heh. My 2013 has manual windows and opens the same way.

Not all modern cars have power windows. Though, my side mirrors are powered which is a fucking godsend. I used to have to adjust the mirrors on my old Cavalier by hand. The driver side one had the little lever inside to do it, but the passenger side didn’t, so I had to do the whole lean across the whole car thing to adjust it.

Having had rentals of both Focii and Fiesta’s. I have decided that the Fiesta is just too small, but I still keep eyeing the Focus.

(I dream of getting a FoST... one day...)

Well, you’ve got kids to think about, space-wise. And you’re a guy. I’m betting you’re a fair bit taller than my 5’4.5”. I test drove a Focus before I got my Fiesta. They’re sweet cars that really are a more manageable size, but for me, since it’s just me, the Fiesta is pretty perfect. It can fit where other cars can’t and it’s just zippy enough to keep me happy on the highway. :)

Get a FoST!!!

Your four-door Fiesta is literally a girl’s car; just yours though. Others belong to other people of different genders!

I’ve only ever driven a St on a test drive. I didn’t like the seats bit otherwise a very fun little car

I was in the UK looking in the rental car lot of Europcar for a car, the car that I was going to drive for a week. I saw the Fiesta, and a Vauxhall Corsa.

Kinja'd!!!

You must choose. But choose wisely.

I thought “well, I can try one of those in the US”. I went for the Vauxhall instead.

Kinja'd!!!

He chose... poorly.

a couple of hairs over 6’ and a couple of six packs over 200 lbs (ok, fine, a few six packs).

I liked the Fiesta, it was more spritely than the Focus, but all things being equal, I couldn’t live with one unless I had to. So I wouldn’t do so by choice.

The FoST on the other hand? I haven’t driven one yet, but it is my short list of cars I want if I’m buying new (pending a test drive or six).

*cough* I haven’t erm.... *tugs at shirt collar* ... driven a FiST or a FoST because *coughs again* ... I don’t know how to drive stick?

*hides*

So, I’ve only ever driven the automatic versions of each car. And everyone knows how much I love Mustangs, but... I don’t think I’d mind buying another Fiesta (though, preferably one without a faulty DCT... which, obviously wouldn’t be a problem in a FiST).

Now, I’m no rally driver or anything, but I really am quite pleasantly surprised by what my little car can handle sometimes. I’m having fun so far. :)

As far as getting one eventually... would you necessarily have to buy it new? You could snatch one up a year old, still have some factory warranty on it and have someone else eat up the majority of the depreciation on it, no?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

“I didn’t like the seats...”

The seats in STs are slightly different than regular Fiestas, but they’re essentially the same. I didn’t like the headrests when I first got it, but now I’m used to them. The seat is comfortable enough for me, though... the issue is the lack of appropriate arm rests. The built-in one on the door is too short and set back just a little too far to be practical. And I don’t have a center console, so I don’t have an arm rest on the right side, either.

But yeah, still a fun little car. The other day I was cruising on the highway when I looked down and saw that, whoopsie, I was doing 100. Lol. I slowed it down to a respectable.... well... a slightly more respectable speed. You’d think you’d feel that much speed in such a bare-bones car like that ... poor noise insulation, small engine, not the best specs overall, but nope. Still drives smooth and you hit speed very deceptively in it.

You should probably look into that. It’s a lot of fun, heck, driving stick manages to make my 16 year old New Beetle a not boring driving experience. And it made owning a Hyundai Accent 3dr bearable (and it was the only way that anyone should ever own a Wrangler).

My old Sentra and my horrible horrible horrible Mazda 626’s were both automatics, as was my Blazer. As is my Rav4.

Someday I’ll own a fun car.

But I won’t buy anything with an automatic, it’s always weird for me driving an automatic, I still hold the PRDNL stick like I’m going to do something with it (though I really did like renting a brand new Grand Cherokee, that thing was fun, and in sport mode the paddle shifted automatic was quite responsive).

And I wouldn’t want to buy a used FoST, these cars were meant to be hooned, the only people who buy them know that. I don’t want that guys used car. =)

Yeah.... that thought crossed my mind... about inheriting all the hooning damage of someone else’s FoST. Is it weird that I hold the stick sometimes, too? At least you can say it’s just force of habit from being so used to driving manuals. Heh.

Is it too much to ask for a car in which you don’t press your foot against the exposed steering shaft U-joints when you use the clutch? I submit that it is not. Shifting was a bit rubbery and indistinct too - such fun learning wrong-hand-stick, particularly paired with brakes that seized like clawing demons. Pedal = on/off switch. It was comfortable...ish...I guess? Definitely had the contemporary GM giant expanses of not-quite-vinyl thing going on, and suspension like a rubber mine cart with back end skipping. Solid, but beige, and cannot recommend.

I had way more spite toward that car back a few months ago after I’d been driving it - this is the relaxed, moderate version of my distaste. Despite it not really doing anything other than being a sad, cheap econobox and constantly trying to curb-skip. (Wide track, stiff rear, and long wheelbase for overall length, with tight English roads. BANG CLONK, SKITTER.... THUMP)

That and the steering shaft thing re-he-heally started to piss me off.
